All of a sudden I am getting a run time error trying to run XP smoker or registry smoker:

Run Time Error 429
Activex component cannot create object.

Any ideas?

Yes, it means some program you uninstalled removed a file that those programs need. Simply reinstall one of them and see if it works. If that doesn't work, then reinstall the other one. I would recommend trying to reinstall XP Smoker first as it uses all the controls of Registry Smoker and then some.
