Disk Cleaner

The XP Smoker disk cleaner utilizes an extremely fast reciprocal search engine to search for files on your harddrive.

The Disk cleaner searches for the following file types:

*.tmp
mscreate.dir
*.$$$
*.gid
*.shd
*.---
*.001
*.002
*.~mp
~MSSETUP.T
~$*.DOC
*.wbk
*.~
~.*
~*.*
*.old
*.bkp
*.diz
*.syd
*.$*
*.fts
*.dmp
*.chk
*.bad
winzip.log
rbbad.cab
ff*.tmp
fff*.tmp?

The above file types are usually just junk files.

How to use the Disk Cleaner:

1.  Select the drive you want to search from the dropdown box.

2.  Click on the Process Drive button

3.  An hourglass will appear to let you know that it is searching.

4.  When it is finished searching it will display to you, the files it found, the number of files it searched, the number of files found, and the length of time that the search took.

5.  The box scrolls to the right horizontally.

6.  You can select which files you want to delete or click on the "Select all" button to select all.

7. Simply click the "Delete Selected Files" button.

8. You will be prompted as whether or not you wish to delete the files.

9. As a safety precaution, all files are moved to the recycle bin for recovery if you made a mistake.

10.  You can select the "Remove Prefetch Files" and it will search and find your prefetch files for removal.

Note:  It is normal for some temp files to be locked (undeleteable) and the program will appear to freeze momentarily when deleting some files.
